Superb castle on a high crag in the middle of an extremely rural part of Wales; at one point it was the hang-out of a gang of bandits who terrorized the region; has a nifty cave under it that can be reached via a 'secret' passage. The approach from this side is a very sloppy farmyard, although the castle defenses were very elaborate for such a place (very similar to Goodrich, with a large barbican); on the other side is a 300-foot cliff. This castle is particularly impressive when snowbound in the winter. |
