This is the new version of Grobius Shortling's web page Castles, Stone Circles, and Ancient Monuments, which was originally posted on the Internet in late 1996. As stated there, every (well, almost every) site mentioned on these pages has been visited by the author and judged from experience. Statements of fact or opinion may be wrong or wrong-headed, but they are honestly given. The castles are grouped by country on separate web pages; there are also some individual places web pages. All photographs were taken by the author, some as early as 1959 (with my Brownie).
